The National Agrofood Policy 2021-2030 (NAP 2.0) is formulated with the vision of developing a sustainable, resilient, and high-technology agrofood sector in efforts to drive economic growth, enhance the well-being of the people, and prioritize food and nutrition security.

NAP 2.0 focuses on two main aspects:

  1. Food security which means ensuring the availability of food supplies so that all people at all times have access to sufficient and nutritious food; and
  2. Economic growth and the contribution of the Agrofood sector to the country's Gross Domestic Product (GDP), as well as increasing the income level of food producers to ensure their well-being.

The implementation of NAP 2.0 is driven by 6 objectives, supported by 5 cores, and reinforced by 21 strategies and 77 action plans to be realized through various departments and agencies. These core policies encompass empowering modernization through smart agriculture and enhancing research, development, commercialization, and innovation (R&D&C&I) activities, strengthening the value chain of agrofood products for domestic and international markets, talent development and skilled workforce, emphasis on sustainable farming practices, and facilitating the business ecosystem including land use, finance, infrastructure, investment, and governance.

At the same time, NAP 2.0 also focuses on 4 sub-sectors including rice and rice-based products, fruits and vegetables, livestock, and fisheries and aquaculture through the implementation of 18 strategies and 58 action plans. These strategies will focus on high-value activities along the food value chain that can generate higher income for targeted groups and improve the socio-economic status of farmers, breeders, fishermen, and agricultural entrepreneurs.
